Food
 and travel writing

“You can learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together.”

So said Anthony Bourdain.

As a finicky child that would only partake in meat, cheese and carbs to growing into a more health conscious vegetarian (unless I’m restaurant dining, then fish is on my menu), it is fair to surmise that I have had a personal journey with food, one that has involved unpicking many negative habits as much as it has learning new ones.

Despite my own re-education, flavour has always been a joy of mine, especially when exploring the world or connecting with loved ones. Food has the power to bring people together and a sturdy meal can make friends of strangers.

What better way is there to connect than through one’s stomach?

It was a pleasure to delve into food and travel writing as Time Out’s Community Correspondent for Birmingham and the wider Midlands area in the UK. As a local expert, I covered exciting venues and new openings to curate their high-ranking SEO listicles on the best places to visit.

My work led to me being approached by Condé Nast Traveller to create their Destinations feature on ‘The Best Things to Do in Nottingham’ for budding visitors.

For Condé Nast Traveller, I recommended activities, bars and restaurants, identified price points and advised on sequencing for weekend travellers on a city break.
