Hi, I’m Kayleigh,

In case you hadn’t guessed – I’m trying to make myself stand out.

I am a multi-faceted writer, editor, and music journalist with a passion for the written word and an unparalleled ear for spotting new music talent.

Trust me, I know my stuff. There’s a Spotify mixtape I made just for you to listen to on the right – I’d love to know what you think of Dora Jar, METTE, HONESTY, and Nia Smith!

I said it on my homepage but it’s true – music is my first love and it will be my last.

Since 2017, I have written and curated music content for online publications. Starting as a contributor to The Line of Best Fit, I became a New Music Editor and then Features Editor, identifying artists of quality in-line with the brand.

In 2021, I became gal-dem’s resident music columnist, giving a topical slant on important news and releases; I also curated their weekly picks and monthly playlist, gal-dem selects, to spotlight diverse talent. I’ve contributed to NME, Ticketmaster, British GQ, and more, and have written press copy for Universal Denmark and Sony Australia.

I agree, numbers matter data equals decisions.

The more insight we can acquire from our users, the better we can meet the needs of our target audience. My marketing and membership experience working at entrepreneurial start-ups Syncr Music and Journo Resources has honed my ability to monitor data and analytics to increase engagement and paid subscriptions.

Similarly so with key brand partnerships. In sourcing new brand partnership opportunities to increase user acquisition for music opportunities platform Syncr Music, my successful partnership with Music Jobs UK converted to the acquisition of 42% of subscribers (Aug 2021).

We are only as good as the company we keep – and the environment we nurture.

It is a prerogative of mine to build upon my strengths and identify where I can improve. As an editor, I enjoy working with contributing writers and Journo Resources fellows to advise and support in making their work the best it can be.

While at NHS Supply Chain, I worked as part of a small project team to facilitate the content build of their new intranet system; meanwhile, working in internal communications, my business partnering and stakeholder management sourced news and supported on campaigns.

Outside of work, I have worked on creative projects including a short film music video, Young Empress, and a horror anthology podcast, Siren Screams.

As a company at the forefront of music innovation and user experience, working at Spotify would be an incredible opportunity to combine my uniquely diverse skillset into one job role. I am excited by your in-app utilisation of vertical video enabling algorithmic discovery and your hyper-personalised, always-surprising Daylist.

I would love the opportunity to discuss the UK & Ireland Editor role with you further.

So, did I succeed in standing out? I guess you’ll have to be the judge!
